Sooooo I haven't done a song in aaages so I thought I'd put this one on the old tubey tube. I wrote this for my grandad a few weeks ago, and sang it at his funeral - he passed away a day after my booootiful nephew was born, hence the title. It's a bit of a sad'en, but I hope you enjoy it nevertheless :) The lyrics are below.
Tell me why do the tree's change,
Tell me why the sun goes down,
Tell me why we age with age,
Tell me here, tell me now.
Because I really have to know,
Why time takes its toll,
Why people have to leave,
Why the leaves change on the trees,
And float away.
I know that in these heaven skies,
You'll be right there to tell me why,
You went away.
For now I'll try to work out why,
Time goes on and time takes life.
And it's hard but I know,
For a door to open one must close.
So I'll say my goodbyes
To the baby with your eyes
To the life you left behind,
The life you left behind.
What a journey that life gave you,
But now your time is in the skies,
Don't think that I'll forget you,
Because I can see you in my fathers eyes.
And I will never look away,
You'll be here with us everyday.
Promise me that when you're there,
You'll settle down in your chair,
Without a fuss.
And in that light that you'll immerse,
You'll see the girl that you loved first,
Say hi from us.
For now I'll try to work out why,
Time goes on and time takes life.
And it's hard but I know,
For a door to open one must close.
So I'll say my goodbyes
To the baby with your eyes
To the life you left behind,
The life you left behind.
So I'll say my goodbyes
To the baby with your eyes
To the life you left behind,
