Watch the boats work their way down the flight of locks on the Caledonian Canal in Fort Augustus and into Loch Ness.
Fort Augustus has 5 locks. If you're lucky, you'll see the swing bridge open to let a tall boat go through. It's interesting watching the boats make their way through the locks. Fort Augustus is a very touristy town, but a nice place to stop for an hour or two to get lunch, have some ice cream, and watch the locks being used.
