A late night session with the Elektron Digitakt. The sample group includes a couple of chords from an upright piano I sampled a few years ago in my old studio in Southwark. The piano had lived in Africa for a few decades of its long life before ending up with me in SE1. There were strange dead insects deep in it recesses. It’s now in Surrey somewhere. I love that about pianos. It reminds me when I first came into possession of my current tenor sax - a Selmer Mark VI. The case hadn’t been opened since its last owner many years before in St Louis, USA. I opened the case and could smell cigars. I could swear too that the horn could play certain standards by itself. The keys just knew when to move. The rest of the sounds are drum sounds sourced from various places, including a stick sound from I WANT THAT SOUND loop. I WANT this groove to be the basis of a new track using my Prophet 12.

I’ve tried to use as many conditional triggers as possible. I want the 16 steps to sound as flowing and organic as I can.
