According to the Asheville Police Department, downtown has seen a 27% increase in property crimes over the past three years. Downtown also continues to have one of the highest concentrations of violent crime in the city. Police Chief David Zack outlines what residents can expect from Asheville's 60-day downtown safety initiative, which kicks off May 1, 2023.
