Heavenly Father,

You know our hearts, how easily we are distracted by the things of this world. You know how much time we waste seeking after the world, being engrossed in the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (1John2:16). Lord, forgive us for not seeking Your face, for neglecting our quiet time with You and forgetting You in the midst of the busyness of the day.

Help us, Lord, to refocus our hearts and minds on You. Help us to spend time with You in prayer and the meditation of Your Holy Word. Cleanse us from all filthiness and sin and give us clean hands and pure hearts to serve You and to live for You (Psalm119:9-11).

Take away all bitterness and strife. Let not the devil gain a foothold in our lives; help us to resist temptation and not fall into sin (James 4:7). The devil wants us to be distracted by the world and shut God out but only God satisfy all the desires of our souls. Lord, help us to realise the emptiness of this world and run to Christ who is our All in all.

Help us to pursue after God, to be men and women after God’s heart (Acts13:22), to love Your Word and be effective witnesses for Thy Truth. Cast down all idols, self and pride, and let the glory God be our sole pursuit. Keep us pure and separated for the Master’s use in this wicked world; let us shine as lights that Your Name be glorified (Matt5:16).

Bless us this day and renew our inner man to seek after Thee (2Cor4:16). Restore to us the joy of salvation and a fervent spirit for Christ. Draw us close to Your side and help us abide in You day and day and hour by hour.
