09.10.2020 | 12:05 PM | SANTEE - A 4-5 acre vegetation fire broke out in a river bottom, threatening homes near the San Diego Riverbed Thursday afternoon.
Calls started coming in regarding a fire that had started in the river bottom just after noon near the intersection of Willowgrove Ave & Carlton Hills Blvd.
The blaze quickly grew and additional resources were requested, including a US Navy Seahawk helicopter, in an effort to contain the blaze.
Residents poured water onto their rooftops as flames shot up nearby.
A concerned resident rushed straight from work to her home to try and do what she could to protect her home.
The cause of the fire is unknown, however peliminary reports alledge that people fled from the area. San Diego Sheriff's Bomb & Arson Squad were summoned to the scene.
