Artist Aïda Muluneh has made a photo series for the Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition 2020, exploring the relationship between hunger and war. In this video, she tells the story behind her photo The Embrace of Demise.
Millions were forced to flee their homes after the outbreak of the war in Darfur in 2003. Since many of the new refugees were farmers, large areas of fertile land were left untended and barren. Today, more than 3 million people have insecure access to food.
