Who'd guess that Brownells Gun Tech™ Steve Ostrem is a softie? Well, he's a sucker for cute, and today he shows us a cute little custom "baby" Walther P38. It's a mystery piece, still in the white, and whoever did the work was very skilled. As you'd expect, the barrel has been shortened, but the grip frame, grips, and magazine have also been drastically shortened. (We dare ya to make this video full-screen and try to spot visible evidence of the alterations!) The magazine is an original WWII German P38 mag with Waffenamt stamp that has been skillfully modified. And that graceful pinkie finger rest at the bottom of the grip? Metal was added and blended into the original grip frame to create it! Who did this excellent work? John Martz of custom Luger fame? Steve doesn't know. But somebody who was very talented turned this P38 into an exquisite compact carry 9mm pistol long before you could buy a Glock® 43 off the shelf.
