This carry is rooted in African and Indigenous practices. I am using a woven wrap to carry my child on my back.
.
I start the middle market off center to create a new middle. I start that on my son’s back as I position him into place on my back. I then pin the top edges of the wrap in my teeth so I can create a seat. I then tighten the wrap before bringing the longer side under my arm. I flip the side back over my shoulder and bring it around baby to make another hammock piece to hold him in place. Then I continue to tighten the wrap before I twist both sides over my chest and secure it on the other side. I check to make sure my seat is secure and that’s it. If I can’t boop the nose, I tickle the toes.
