When we meet the Minutemen in Concord, Mama Murphy gives us one of her annoying, vague visions about the main quest line and asks us to give her drugs so she can tap into “The Sight”. Once the group reaches Sanctuary you can try to convince her to quit being a chem addict or just ignore her… or you can keep giving her drugs to gain access to more visions… let’s see what happens if we let her ride that high all the way to the end, including how everyone in Sanctuary reacts.
If you give Mama Murphy chems on 5 separate occasions, she will have a heart attack and die. Your companions like Nick won’t react to the situation. Preston will react EXACTLY how you would expect. Sturges, Marcy and Jun Long are all devastated by Mama Murphy’s death.
Mama’s Murphy’s Sight doesn’t just portend the main story. It can actually confer some interesting gameplay benefits to the Sole Survivor as well. During the quest to locate Kellogg in Fort Hagen, giving Mama Murphy chems will grant the player a perk that causes Kellogg to do 25% less damage.
Later during the quest Hunter / Hunted, Mama Murphy will give you an Institute recall code. This will unlock a unique dialogue option that will allow you to instantly defeat the Institute Courser in Cambridge.
