Find out if your Laptop supports 5GHz: Unless you already know for sure that your router is a dual-band model and definitely has a 5GHz radio, it's worth checking that out first. There's no point enabling 5GHz Wi-Fi on your laptop if your router doesn't support it.

IEEE Standard Frequency/Medium Speed
802.11a 5GHz Up to 54Mbps
802.11b 2.4GHz Up to 11Mbps
802.11g 2.4GHz Up to 54Mbps
802.11n 2.4GHz/5GHz Up to 600Mbps
802.11ac 5 GHz Up to 1300 Mbps
Open Command Prompt with Administrator pillages and type
netsh wlan show drivers
Look for Radio types supported.
