On 13th September 2016, at the Baikonur cosmodrome, the Soyuz MS-02 spacecraft was successfully attached to the transfer compartment. After this work was completed the spacecraft was returned to the stand for continued assembly of the “space head” unit.
Continued preparatory work for the next week includes: designers inspection of the spacecraft; spacecraft installation into the payload fairing and transfer of the “space head” unit to the assembly and testing building for attachment to the launch vehicle.
Launch of Soyuz MS-02 is scheduled for 23rd September 2016 at 21:17 Moscow time (18:17 GMT).
The main crew of Soyuz MS-02 consists of cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov Andrei Borisenko of Roscosmos and NASA astronaut Robert Shane Kimbrough. Their backups are Roscosmos cosmonauts Alexander Misurkin, Nikolai Tikhonov and NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei.
