How do you win, even when society doesn’t want you to? With 25 years of experience in law enforcement, former sheriff Ellery Lundy describes his role as a mentor building up the broken youth. Lundy uses personal anecdotes to acknowledge the traumas of young people, advocate for a society that promotes growth, and encourage the “reaching back” necessary to stop the cycle of repairing young men and begin the cycle of building them up. Ellery is a Richmond, Virginia native and a retired Deputy Sheriff (25 years of service). He created Broken Men Foundation, a non-profit that aims to raise boys to become men, in 2014 as a way to give back to his community. Through the Virginia Department of State Social Services, he has been certified in the Fatherhood Initiative program for fragile families. He was also recently certified in crisis intervention. In his personal life, he has coached various sports in the community, from basketball to little league football, and has also officiated little league, high school, and semi-pro. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
