A man who worked as a teacher and youth pastor in the 1980s was charged with child abuse offenses, police said. Baltimore County police said detectives arrested Thomas J. Brackett, 59. Police said Brackett was charged on multiple counts of child abuse and sexual assault offenses. Police said allegations surfaced that Brackett abused two children while working as a teacher and youth pastor in Baltimore County from 1984 to 1985. Detectives began investigating this case earlier this year. Brackett is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center in South Carolina pending extradition. Authorities in South Carolina said Brackett was taken into custody without incident at his home.
