CROSSING BORDERS GONE WRONG!
Have you ever tried being in a situation where the political strife is at its height? Where you are boxed out and nowhere to go?
It was an unexpected ending in Peru. We experienced a political strife in South America. When we left Cusco, we were told there will be no buses available in the next two days to cross the border as the roads were closed due to political strife. Despite the situation, we still pushed through with the plans of crossing and we ended up in a very critical situation— roads blocked with rocks, burning tires and broken glasses and people having riots on the streets. We have to ride a motor bandwagon with all our packs and luggages with no food or water just to cross the border. We were searching for routes with alternating options (hike, wagon, hike then wagon) but towards the end we have a cab that luckily sent us near to the border for around four hours of drive. And we finally made it through. We are grateful for second chances.
