In this video, I did some initial cutting with the Hersir Viking Sword by Albion. With the longer grip length on the Hersir's type H hilt, my hand did not extend quite as far onto the pommel, but the method that I used to grip the hilt is the same as I used for the smaller grip on the Castle Keep Suontaka sword. The pommel is flat against the heel of my palm, helping to maintain edge alignment during the cuts. I was very impressed with the cutting performance of this sword and I am more convinced than ever that this is the correct way to grip these Viking era swords.
