As we very well know, Matthew’s purpose in writing His gospel was to present evidences that Jesus indeed is the Promised Son of David and Messiah. Clearly, this passage shows that Jesus indeed is the Messiah as He fulfills biblical prophecy. While that is clearly the overarching theme of Matthew, there are stories within the BIG STORY and in this case, we will discover that it is a STORY of GREAT COURAGE.
