The University of New England College of Dental Medicine honors candidates for the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree on Friday, May 17, 10 a.m., at Girard Innovation Hall on UNE’s Portland Campus for the Health Sciences with its annual graduation and hooding ceremony.
Upon welcoming its inaugural class in 2013, the University of New England College of Dental Medicine (UNE CDM) became the first dental college in Northern New England. Its four-year Doctor of Dental Medicine program serves 70 students per class from the region. With 120 faculty and staff, UNE CDM focuses on improving oral health in underserved areas through excellence in education, research, and service. Students gain hands-on clinical experience by treating patients at UNE’s Oral Health Center from their second year onwards, with 60% of patients covered by MaineCare insurance. In their fourth year, students complete externships in rural and underserved communities across Northern New England, providing dental services while gaining real-world experience.
