Masoud Pezeshkian: A Conservative Disguised as a Reformist? | DRM News
Masoud Pezeshkian, the only reformist candidate, won Iran's presidential election with over 16 million votes, despite a historically low turnout. Known for his practical foreign policy stance and willingness to negotiate with the West, Pezeshkian's presidency comes amid widespread voter apathy and disillusionment. His controversial past includes facing impeachment as Health Minister. While he has expressed reformist views, critics argue that the real power lies with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, casting doubt on Pezeshkian's ability to effect significant change within Iran's tightly controlled political system.
