Having cleared out Calcelmo's Dwemer Museum, we're now ready to break into his laboratory to find the materials we need to translate Gallus' journal from Falmer. Inside we find it's less of a laboratory and more of a Dwemer maze for some reason, replete with traps of every kind. There's also a huge guard presence because Calcelmo is paranoid about people stealing his research I guess.
But really the biggest challenge we face is carrying all the loot we find since we're going solo. Dwemer crap is *heavy*, and even with our jacked up stamina from leveling to 252, we still don't have capacity for it all. So we end up having to go back into the museum three times after finishing to make sure we pick it all up, which is quite frustrating.
As for the actual quest stuff, this is one of the better quests in the game. If you're truly trying to sneak past all the guards (and not cheesing with Invisibility like us), it's quite the challenge, and also fun to use the various traps to get rid of them. I like the idea that ultimately you find basically a Rosetta Stone for the Falmer language and take a rubbing of it for translation purposes - and then Aicantar and more guards walk in as a scripted event as soon as you're finished. You then have to leap to an elevated catwalk to escape from them successfully. It's all around well designed and fun. The only thing that didn't really work is the Spider Control Rod. We used it to say that we did, but the spider ended up getting killed by the very first guard we used it on, which was a letdown.
We finish with a sort n' sell of everything as usual. Next time we'll take the journal back to Enthir to uncover the mysteries within.
