Today, we’re talking about a murderer and a crime boss. In his prime, Rafael Caro Quintero was perhaps the most stereotypical Latin American druglord: poorly educated, brash, violent, filthy rich and a complete wildcard. He also just so happens to be one of the godfathers of the Mexican drug trade. His legacy is tied to the histories of the Guadalajara and Medellín cartels, as well as the murder of DEA agent Kiki Camarena, a turning point in US-Mexican relations, and the so-called war on drugs.
