The mighty Hephaestus shakes the walls of the world from the depths of his forge. Son of Hera and Zeus (according to Homer), the ancient God of volcanoes, fire and metallurgy, he is thrown from the top of Olympus by his mother because of his deformity. Other versions evoke that it is Zeus who chases Hephaestus away because he would be the illegitimate child of Hera alone.
Eurynome and Thetis take him in and raise him for nine years without anyone knowing. Literally broken, Hephaestus hides in a cave where he makes jewels.
Hephaestus asks for Aphrodite's hand without success. He will forge weapons for all the gods and heroes of antiquity and build the palace of the gods on Olympus.
Achilles, Perseus, Pandora, Athena, Aphrodite, Heracles... They all owe him a work.
He represents and protects blacksmiths, sculptors, carpenters, artisans.
I am very proud to present to you the piece that best represents for me my work on the ancient Greek Gods.
I have put all the adventurous ardour of these inspirers into it and found, I hope, through the drama of Hephaestus' story, the poetry to tell the tale of his ills and those he symbolizes.

Le puissant Hephaïstos ébranle les murs du monde depuis les tréfonds de sa forge. Fils de Hera et Zeus (selon Homère), Dieu ancien des volcans, du feu, de la métallurgie, il est jeté du haut de l'Olympe par sa mère à cause de sa difformité. D'autres versions évoquent que c'est Zeus qui chasse Hephaïstos car il serait enfant illégitime d'Hera seule.
Eurynomé et Thétis le recueillent et l'élèvent pendant neuf an à l'insu de tous. Littéralement brisé, Hephaïstos se terre dans une grotte où il façonne des bijoux.
Hephaïstos demande la main d'Aphrodite sans succès. Il forgera des armes pour tous les Dieux et héros de l'antiquité et construira le palais des Dieux sur l'Olympe.
Achille, Persée, Pandore, Athéna, Aphrodite, Héraclès... Tous lui doivent une œuvre.
Il représente et protège les forgerons, les sculpteurs, charpentiers, artisans.
Je suis très fier de vous présenter le morceau qui représente pour moi le mieux mon travail sur les Dieux Grecs anciens.
J'y ai mis toute la fougue aventureuse de ces inspiratrices et inspirateurs et trouvé j'espère, à travers le drame de l'histoire d'Héphaïstos, la poésie pour conter ses maux et ceux qu'il symbolise.
