Just ask Doug Kmiec, who was the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Office of Legal Counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice during President Reagan's second term and was more recently a President Obama-appointed US Ambassador to Malta.
In this interview, Doug talks about his law career and tells JD Careers Out There host Marc Luber about the role of the Office of Legal Counsel, which works with the Attorney General to provide legal counsel to the President and the Executive Branch agencies. Doug worked in the Reagan administration under then-Attorney General Ed Meese.
Doug's law career has led him from practicing law in Chicago to becoming a law professor, a White House Fellow, one of the top government lawyers, and a US Ambassador. Today Doug is a constitutional law professor and the Caruso Family Chair at Pepperdine Law School in Malibu, CA.
