Demonstration in a vascular access phantom. With the transducer aligned in the long-axis of the vessel, the entire path of the needle up to vessel puncture is tracked. The major advantage is the ability to track the needle tip and avoid posterior wall puncture. Keeping the vessel and the needle in view at all times can sometimes be challenging. Usable for all vessels, easy to perform with radial and dorsalis pedis arterial cannulation.
