I am trying not to get my hopes up too much for the early arrival of spring. 🤩But the weather this last weekend was glorious, and tomorrow the forecast tells me it will be 66 f / 19 c and no wind in Paris. 😍

I find the weather patterns in Paris to be interesting. The forecast can change quickly, in just a matter of hours, and I find myself continually monitoring my weather app, way more than any other place in France. I hardly ever leave without an umbrella for those surprise rain downpours. ☔️And I take the thunderstorm reports quite seriously.

According to the French lightning protection association, every year in France, lightning strikes 100 to 200 people, with 10 to 20 deaths annually (Association Protection Foudre – APF). To compare, according to the NWS Storm Data, between 1989 and 2018, the U.S. averaged 43 reported lightning fatalities per year for the entire country! And while France is a big country, don't forget this bit of perspective - it's the same size as Texas. A few years ago, ten children and one adult were struck by lightning in a Paris park, with six seriously hurt.

With sunny days on the horizon, one of my favorite activities is taking a meal outside. And it is often one of the easiest and cheapest ways to have a meal in France! Pick a warm spot on a park bench and snack on your favorite goodies. When you first head over to France, jet lag also has a sneaky way of hitting you from nowhere and making you "hangry." An impromptu picnic is a perfect solution! 🧺

I share with you how you can go shopping at a French mini-mart for your picnic supplies in today's story. Now, I am all for pre-planning a fancy spread and going to one of the famous outdoor farmer's markets to buy all the supplies. But for this How-To Tuesday, my video gives you a more practical approach when you're feeling a little bit spontaneous, and your stomach starts to growl. 🤤
