Lifter Bores: Lifter Bore Reaming and Block Cleaning
The LA-Phant: Episode 2
What can be done when a lifter bore is oversized, but the block is worth saving? What about installing lifters that requires longer bores for proper oiling? What do you do when the nearest machine shop to handle this process is too far to drive to, or to expensive to ship to? This episode looks at reaming lifter bores by hand.
The LA-phant is a naturally aspirated 437 MOPAR LA small block stroker build with sights set on 700 HP.
This build is based on the Chrysler/MOPAR 340 small block which were known for their larger cylinder bores (4.04 inches). However, the videos contain concepts applicable to 318 and 360 blocks as well.
In this video, we take care of a worn out lifter bore by reaming and installing new bushings.
