When that day came, the Amazons (Godkiller) would be able to strike Ares down once and for all through use of the Godkiller weapon. But as the audience soon finds out, the question of the Amazons' secrecy and duty to protect the world from Ares is a bit more complicated. Especially since Antiope (Robin Wright) believes that Ares has returned, and is executing his plan as they speak.
Believing Ares to be responsible for the war, Diana arms herself with the "Godkiller" sword, the lasso, and armor before leaving Themyscira with Steve to locate and stop Ares for good.
“This is her moment,” says the film’s director Patty Jenkins. “She’s heard all the terrible things about man’s land. But she’s also heard that mankind is in need and under duress. This is her great moment to make the decision to be the one to try and save them.”
A “god-killer” blade is an intriguing reveal, as Wonder Woman has gone up against several deities in the comics, namely Ares, the god of war. His presence would be a perfect fit for the World War I setting and it would be interesting to see how he’d fit into a story like this. Wonder Woman, portrayed by Gal Gadot, first made her on-screen appearance in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This film marked the character’s first big-screen appearance and quickly established the Amazon Princess as a scene-stealer.
Wonder Woman presented Diana Prince's origin story on the big screen back in 2017 and set up her future in the DCEU, but was that future teased in a post-credits scene? Focusing on Wonder Woman's origin on the island of Themyscira, a place hidden from the prying eyes of humanity and populated solely by women, and following her journey into the modern world and landing on the World War I battlefields of France, Wonder Woman introduced audiences old and new to the power and might of Diana, the demigod warrior.
Wonder Woman was released following Gal Gadot's debut as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, in which she helped both DC heroes defeat Doomsday.
Wonder Woman is a 2017 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name, produced by DC Films in association with RatPac Entertainment and Chinese company Tencent Pictures, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is the fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Directed by Patty Jenkins from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and a story by Heinberg, Zack Snyder, and Jason Fuchs, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot in the title role, alongside Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya. It is the second live action theatrical film featuring Wonder Woman following her debut in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In Wonder Woman, the Amazon princess Diana sets out to stop World War I, believing the conflict was started by the longtime enemy of the Amazons, Ares, after American pilot and spy Steve Trevor crash-lands on their island Themyscira and informs her about it.
