The Philippine Madrigal Singers' performance at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, New York, NY on September 24, 2009.
"Paraiso won the grand prize at the 1992 Tokyo Pop Music Festival and was originally performed in the 90's by the teen singing group "Smokey Mountain". "Paraiso" was the very first song composed for the group and was also made its very theme song--named after what used to be a garbage landfill in Tondo, Manila. The lyrics speak of a dark and dreary environment, where scavengers are free to make what they get from the garbage pile. But that does not make them any less free to imagine, any less free to hope, and any less free to dream. This is a song dedicated to the young people who have hopes and dreams of a better future." - from the Program Notes
Soloists: RJ Faith Lorenzo, soprano and Marvin Gayatgay, bass
