PANDAS and PANS are neuro immune disorders where the immune system attacks part of the brain called the basal ganglia leading to (usually) acute onset OCD and / or food restrictions and often tics, other symptoms can include mood swings, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, sensory processing issues, hallucinations, psychosis, a near catatonic state, Brain fog, loss of sensation, loss of coordination, decline in handwriting and maths ability, increase in urinary frequency and enuresis, chorieform movements, ADHD symptoms, cognitive decline and much more. PANDAS is triggered by group A Strep and PANS can be triggered by Lyme disease, influenza, respiratory infections and more, and metabolic disturbances, psychosocial stress and environmental factors can also play a role.
