President Donald Trump on Tuesday reiterated a threat to shut down parts of the government over his promised border wall with Mexico and said the military could the wall if Democrats refuse to vote in favor of the project.
Trump's comments came as he opened a contentious meeting with Democratic congressional leaders at the White House in an effort to avert a partial government shutdown on Dec. 21, when funding for some agencies is scheduled to expire.
Trump soon began squabbling with Democrats over whether wall funding could be approved in the House or Senate without Democratic votes.
