In this tutorial I show you how to create an HTML file and a CSS file in Adobe Dreamweaver. To create an HTML page, under Create New, click HTML. This will give you a new document. By default you may open to the design view. The design view will display exactly what will be displayed in the browser. Do not type code in the design view unless you want it to show on the browser. The code view can be used to type HTML code. Basic tag structures are described. The split view is introduced. The design view is not a browser and will not always display as the page will in the browser. Do not be over reliant on the design view. Saving HTML files is shown. The importance of naming the homepage as index.html is discussed. To create a CSS file, the File menu is used. HTML documents can also be created through the File menu. Remember to save the CSS page after you having created the CSS file.
