Hey everybody. This is a interesting day because I normally covered video game news but unfortunately I'm covering a sad topic that while tangentially connected to video games just goes beyond that really.

Today we receive news that Kevin Conroy the iconic voice actor who has played Batman in every form of Animation imaginable for 30 years has passed on. We do not know the exact means of death but we did learn that he has been dealing with illness for quite a while now and finally this time has come. As I sit here trying to put this into words it's kind of an awkward feeling because it's like trying to contemplate how something that has been in your life for pretty much your entire life and is now suddenly gone. I did not know Kevin, I've never met him personally but he has been present in my life since I was born basically. For the entirety of my life Kevin Conroy has played Batman. If you were to ask someone like my father he would tell you that Adam West is most assuredly the iconic Batman actor if you were to ask somebody who had no real experience with video games or animation than they might throw out a name like Michael Keaton but for me I grew up in a world where Batman the Animated Series was on TV, I grew up in a world where Sub-Zero came out on VHS and I would re-watch that so much. I grew up in a world where Batman Beyond was this new hot thing after Batman the Animated Series. And like so many folks I grew up in a world where we saw Batman go from being this serious but somehow still cartoonish figure on the small screen in our living rooms to being a serious hard-hitting Dynamic figure on our televisions through the Arkham series of video games. There are very few actors I can think of who have ever given is many years or time to a character as Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill acting is his opposite as the Joker. Kevin was an actor before he ever came in contact with Batman. He played mostly small roles in television series, historical miniseries and movies.

Really I just want to take a moment to recognize his contributions to the acting Community to the comic Community. I am so happy that I have gotten to spend by 30 Years of Living listening to just the hours and hours of episodes, movies and video game contributions that Kevin Conroy has made. I am so sorry to see him go and I hope that he we'll be able to rest easy up there in heaven because he has certainly earned it acting just as a ambassador for everything a good person should be. Rest in peace Kevin Conroy you really meant the world to so many of us and we are sorry to see you go.
