The diving bell boat "Carl Straat" guards the Alsace-Netherlands border. The riverbed is kept clean by Captain. His ship has a steel diving bell that may be lowered to displace the water at the Rhine's bottom utilizing overpressure. He may then keep dry while operating beneath the sea, such as collecting missing anchors.
The team must descend seven meters into the shaft pipe to reach the Rhine's bottom. They must operate under extremely severe circumstances, ranging from pressurized air to intense heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
