This video features hike and trail report to the Sparrow Hawk Tarns located in the Kananaskis region of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. This is a beautiful hike for those with the ability to hike through some major ascents. The views are incredible along the entire hike, but especially outside of the treeline and higher up before arriving at the boulder fields and the first lake. The lake itself is stunning and can even be warm enough to swim during the summer. The tarns are further up past the lake and up toward the back side of the peaks to the right, and for the most part, people should be following the cairns at the higher trail elevations. Throughout the mountain journey, the river weaves in and out, so there should be lots of water for pets or those with filters for their water bottles. After 3.5 kilometres, you will get out of the trees and then you get to marvel at the views all around the rest of the hike. You will then go through a latch section, a boulder section, meadows, and finally some rocky sections to get to the tarns. If you are not accustomed to following cairns, hikers should be ready to download and use the offline maps.
