A DAY TRIP TO SANDHAMN 🛳️🍃
One of the most popular summer activities in Stockholm is to visit the archipelago. But where do you even start and what is the best way to get around if you don’t have your own boat? Well, this guide is a great starting point to visit one of the most popular towns for a day trip in the archipelago.

GETTING THERE
The quickest way to get there is, by far taking bus 434 from Slussen to Stavsnäs and then the ferry out to Sandhamn. The journey takes between 1,5 to two hours depending on the connection time. During the summer, there is also a ferry that departs from Strömkajen in the central part of the city but the trip will take over two hours one way. 🛥️

THINGS TO DO
The main thing to do in Sandhamn is definitely to just walk around, explore and enjoy the atmosphere. There is a beach called Trouville which is located around 20 minutes from the port by foot, which is fantastic for sunbathing and swimming on a hot day. There is also the Sandhamn Archipelago museum where you can learn more about area and its history. Along the harbor, there are a few summer stalls where you can shop for handicrafts, clothes, souvenirs and books. You can also purchase the famous Swedish author Viveca Sten’s books about the Murders in Sandhamn with you. Another fun idea if you’re bringing kids is to play mini golf! Down by the guest harbor there is a mini golf course that is open during the summer. 🌊

WHERE TO EAT
This is quite a small island so you’ll find that most options are right in town when you arrive with the ferry. My favorites are Sandhamns seglarhotell for the delicious food and the outdoor terrace overlooking the archipelago. They have a dish of the day for 145 SEK and a few other options as well. I have also been to Sandhamns värdshus which has a slightly more casual vibe. I really enjoyed their seafood soup. There are also ice cream kiosks and a bakery. 🍨🥘
