As we prepare ourselves to celebrate Rama Navami on March 30, 2023, let us ponder on the teachings from Ramayana as elucidated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

From Bhagawan's Divine Discourse, April 5, 1998:

Having been restless, Ravana wasted his life. Ravana always followed the external or outward trend of life. He could not control his desire and that ultimately led to the death of his son.
As he could not control his own weakness, he was responsible for the ruin of the entire clan! As he could not control his raga (attachment), he had to sacrifice his rajya (kingdom). This is the teaching of Ravana at the end.

"People of this world! Without controlling attachment, without controlling desire like me, without any check or ceiling on desire like me, don't suffer! Ultimately, I am also going to be lost! What is it that stands in life? It is only the bad name that remains. The good name goes to Rama! Therefore, earn repute. Never put (yourself) to disrepute."

That was the teaching of Ravana to this world.
