Pancreas is found behind the stomach near Duodenum. It contains group of endocrine glands known as ‘Islets of Langerhans’.In this two type of cells are present α-cells and β-cells. When glucose level increases in blood, β-cells of Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas convert the excess glucose to glycogen. If the cells stop functioning, it will lead to the failure in the secretion of insulin. It causes elevation of glucose level in blood. The excess glucose is now removed from the body through urine. This condition is known as diabetes mellitus
