Lots of people ask me what that liquid is that I put on my sponge cakes. Answer: Sugar syrup! This is an equal measurement of water and sugar with a little touch of flavour.
This trick is an absolute life saver in cake decorating. Not only does this simple syrup add moisture to the cake itself, but it also enhances the flavour too.
I also have a great way how to apply the syrup without leaving brush bristles on the cake.
