A public land adventure in Montana hunting spring black bears. Michael Parente and Marcus Hockett are backpacking into an area that is an amazing conservation success story. Previously a checkerboard area of private and public lands, access was difficult.
Now thanks to the collaboration of like minded locals and conservation groups, the area is all public land and much easier to access. Marcus and Michael have limited plans for their time here, but are just committed to having an adventure. From bear hunting, to trout fishing and foraging for fresh morels; they have plenty to do to occupy their time.
After setting up a camp they do some fishing before heading out for an evening of bear hunting. With any luck, this trip will be filled with wild game, great views, and certainly an appreciation for those individuals and groups that made this trip a possibility.
