I really did my best with this remaster ❤️ so bear with me, the source material was “The film itself” 🙂
That being said I would like to thank you for watching the entirety of the video (if you did 👍 ), regardless of the flaws I may have created trying to recreate the beautiful film it was intended to be. Undoubtedly, It was a horrendous mess when it was first released with my old studio for those of you who remember “M(3” or “MKB Productions” before I became serious with the art form and actually established myself in the industry. And I’m not writing this for you to overlook the mistakes we made but… to like… cherish the memory. The memory of the first ever full film we made as a Film class… and boy was it fun. From the drama, to the lack of teamwork... But we pulled through and here the re-imagination of that memory. A statue to commemorate its existence, and to appreciate every single person who was involved in making it come to light. Some sections are surprisingly still funny to me after all these years. Considering I actually helped make them… (This thing came out I think around 2018,2019, I downloaded it from my drive so the dates messed up ☹️ so I’m not sure if I got it correct or I’m a year off)
Here’s the breakdown of the changes I made:
- Basically I color graded the entire film, since it had no grade (at all)
- Some audio was distorted or incoherent, I had to replace/remove or add new audio, sounds and music to the film (Shoutout @benjaminblackbird and @Viance_official for copyrights)
- Thanks to feedback I got (back then), some sections had to be removed ENTIRELY, because they were garbage (excuse my French)… I was looking at them and I was like “Mama mia…” …oh wait that’s Italian. Anyway…
- I added in more drone shots, It really needed those (Nairobi, where the film is set, is beautiful from above for sure) I have credited all parties involved PLEASE don’t DMCA take down, it’s fair use with credit.
- I changed some of the font and added more text prompts to suite the look and feel of the movie
- Due to changes the film is now 16 min in length, from the original 23 min runtime. I know… a lot of trash was put out. This is one of the big reasons why it took me long to remaster because I had to examine the core story and ensure it was left untouched as I corrected each and every mistake we made (the noticeable ones for the most part)
- Oh, and black bars 🙂 film look!
Things to note:
- The film may seem a bit fast paced, due to removed sections. But I ensured the core story of Martin, Kevo and Nduta was coherently told
- There’s flickering in some sections, I believe either due to the low budget camera we used (prone to overheats) orrr the camera operator assigned to the scene used some weird settings (idk like a crazy shutterspeed or poor framerate) I couldn’t correct it in post
- There’s noticeable grain in some areas due to the heavy grade on basically mp4 footage so, try to ignore it please
- Towards the end I realized I was censoring songs for basically and R rated film so I was like f**k it and just stopped censoring
- Spot my jacket! Which I was arrested for some time later and now I have no idea how it got lost cause… I… don’t… have it anymore?
- I’m not doing English captions, this project took me some years to finally finish (due to personal projects, monetary work and genuine laziness) But I will leave it open for the community to do so, and/or email me to post. I will gladly add them
Thank you for your time watching and reading this, I appreciate you so so much!
