The sound of a Sacred Kingfisher calling in the Australian bush. The loud ‘kik-kik-kik-kik’ calls of the Sacred Kingfisher are a common sound in spring and summer within its range. These calls are most often given by male birds. Apart from these typical advertising calls, Sacred Kingfishers make a number of other sounds including trilling ‘tucree-tucree-tucree’ calls and harsh scolding ‘tchaa’ notes when an intruder is present.
The Sacred Kingfisher calls in this video spectrogram were recorded in Wollemi National Park, New South Wales, Australia.
The Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) is a medium-sized kingfisher found throughout much of Australasia and Indonesia. More examples of wildlife sounds and bird calls can be found on my website [ Ссылка ]
