My top 8 dry climate gardening techniques for reducing or eliminating irrigation on your farm or in the garden. Our homestead is being developed to support and teach dry farming and dry gardening techniques that growers at any scale can incorporate into their design to reduce water waste. This is our first season with these gardens on the property and not all of our water-saving techniques and finished and established, but we're already getting some great harvests without irrigating (we don't even have power to our well-pump yet, so we couldn't irrigation if we wanted to.) Wide plant spacings are one of the major things getting us through this first season while we get our other systems established, that and a good ol' layer of mulch (both traditional organic matter mulches and the dust mulch championed by Steve Solomon.) To round it out, I demonstrate how using depressions in the soil keep our three-sisters bed irrigated through drought and how the hugel-paths we're building will eventually allow us to squeeze a few more plants into our rows without having to add any irrigation.

Most modern clothing contains synthetic fibers which don’t legally have to be listed on the label and which degrade into harmful forever chemicals. Many also contain teflon and other substances for stain resistance or wrinkle-proofing.
