7. Hairspray And Stains
Again with the mysterious stain remover methods. Apparently, one stain removing hack involves spraying some hairspray on your clothes to remove ink stains. Those are the toughest things to get rid of, especially on clothes. The idea was that since hairspray consists of alcohol, this would help lift the stain. But hairsprays nowadays don’t really contain alcohol anymore, or at least not as much as they used to. If it’s alcohol you’re looking for when faced with an ink stain, you should probably just use rubbing alcohol and a sponge to soak that ink out of the clothes.Or just try washing it.
6. Cleaning The Washing Machine
If your washing machine isn’t clean, then there’s really no point in using it to wash your clothes. Most of the time, washing machines stay clean on the inside But if you have one that got especially dirty, it’s been recommended that you use mouthwash to clean your washing machine by pouring it in there. While, sure, it has alcohol and has some disinfectant properties, to really clean something like a washing machine, you should just use liquid chlorine bleach. And if the mashing has a self-cleaning cycle, just use that instead. No need to pour your whole bottle of Listerine down the washing machine.
5. Lemon Fresh Dishes
Another household cleaning appliance that needs some regular cleaning in order to do its job would be the dishwasher. And it’s probably the appliance most prone to lots of gross messes since you stick all your dirty dishes in there to just sit in until it gets full. To keep that dish washer fresh, sticking lemon wedges in there before you run it can supposedly keep your dishwasher and all the dishes being cleaned in it smelling fresh. You can put in one wedge or a few, though according to testing, it doesn’t really make a difference. Some argue that the acid in the lemon might make it smell fresh, but it does nothing to keep it clean, despite the acidity of the mons.
4. Dryer Sheet Cleaners
So we already informed you that you shouldn’t stick dryer sheets into your air vents. But you also probably shouldn’t really use those same dryer sheets to clean the burnt on gunk on your pots and pans. The instructions say to fill the pot with water and then put a dryer sheet in there to soak for an hour. Afterward, this supposedly makes it easier to clean all that crust off. This apparently just doesn’t really work, at least no better than if you just left it in with water and used a sponge to scrape the dirty stuff of. Plus, dryer sheets were made for coming into contact with clothes and not things like food, so you probably don’t want any of those substances to mix into someone you place food in.
3. Makeshift Power Adapter
Anytime you’re dealing with electricity, you need to be very careful. When you need something like a power adapter and don’t have one available, you might think a contraption like this using two nail clippers inserted into the wall while also being attached to the plug. But we should probably advise against this because, well, just look at this photo. Does that look safe at all to you? If you need a power adapter and don’t have one, just go out and buy one.
2. Pour It Down The Drain
Yet another way to clean the toilet that doesn’t actually work that well would be the hack that says to pour some soda in the toilet bowl. Doing so apparently gives it a better smell and the acidity can lift those gross strains right off that ceramic. But then you would just be wasting a good couple liters of soda. Soda wasn’t made to clean things, you shouldn’t drink it if it was. And when it comes to germs, it’s definitely not going to do anything to get rid of those, so just clean your toilet bowl the way you regularly would.
1. Organic Phone Charger
If someone told you you could charge your phone using an onion and some gatorade, you probably wouldn’t believe them. That’s probably a good indicator of how well this hack works. The story goes that you soak that onion in some gatorade and then plug your phone charging cable into the onion. The acidity of the onion along with the electrolytes of the gatorade is supposed to be able to charge your phone. You could try it, but you’d still be staring at an uncharged phone and a charger cable full of onion. You need copper and zinc to create a current to charge, like you see when using a nail, a penny, and a potato. You don’t really get any of these things with just onion and gatorade.
