Annihilation is a beautiful, thought-provoking horror film that went entirely under the radar. The film grossed less than 50 million dollars worldwide (in fact, most bottom rung Adam Sandler films gross more than this). Alex Garland's sci-fi horror flick, adapted from the novel of the same title, is a genius film with great execution and thought-provoking character themes. While it isn't a true horror film, it's a psychological study of its characters in the weird, creepy atmosphere do add some horror like elements.
