As the marriage between Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey at the Twins proceeds to the bedding ceremony, Frey musicians begin playing The Rains of Castamere, worrying Catelyn Stark, before Walder Frey announces that he owes his Queen a wedding gift.

As he says that, Catelyn lifts up Roose Bolton's sleeve to find chain mail armour underneath. Realising what is going on, Catelyn yells at her son Robb to alert him, but is too late, as the Freys mortally wound Robb's pregnant wife Talisa and begin massacring their Stark and Tully guests, with arrows from crossbowmen hitting both Catelyn and Robb.

Catelyn sees an oppurtunity in Walder Frey's wife, holding her hostage as she begs Walder to let her son live, swearing that she will kill his wife if Robb dies. Walder cares little for his wife's safety, however, and Roose Bolton kills Robb Stark, King of the North and the Trident, with a dagger to the heart. Catelyn screams out in anguish at the death of the last Stark she knows to be alive before her throat is cut.
