In this video I walk you through how to clean and re-paint your boat's paddlewheel-style speed transducer, or knot meter. If you notice your speed readings are dropping, or you are not getting any speed data at all, it could be that the paddlewheel needs to be cleaned and re-painted with the proper anti-fouling paint. This is also a typical task each spring before launching your boat for the season. I show you how it is done on our boat Sea Rose with a Raymarine DST800 (depth, speed, temp), but the process is similar with other brands and models of paddlewheel speed transducers sold by Raymarine, made by Airmar, and other companies, including: Raymarine T911 Thru-Hull Retractable Transducer, Raymarine ST800 Thru-hull Low Profile Transducer, Model E26031, Airmar P120 housing, Airmar Smart Tri Multisensor 20-633-01, Airmar Triducer IDST-N2000, PN 44-196-3-01, Customer Part No. A22111
You should also get a spare paddlewheel kit. For our Raymarine DST800, it is Airmar part no. 33-398-04.
