Mae Kampong (แม่กำปอง) is a tiny, almost hidden village hidden in the middle of a mountain range about an hour and a half from Chiang Mai. It has a beautiful waterfall, a really cool lookout point called Kew Fin, lots of homestay opportunities, some epic views, and of course food and coffeeshops in abundance.

The village itself is built along a narrow winding road that goes increasingly higher. You can see it in the overhead shot if you look at the thumbnail image for this video. At some point you reach the peak of the downtown area, which is a coffeeshop with a homestay next door. This is where I stayed the night and woke up to a breathtaking view of the village down below.

While I was there, I also checked out a few of the more well-known coffeeshops. The most photogenic one that everyone takes a pic in front of for their gram was really nice and you can see the outside of it in this video.

I went inside and enjoyed the atmosphere but I decided to feature a different one in this video because from a pure coffee lover's standpoint, it's the king of the village. That particular shop is called Pirunya Coffee and I had their syphon coffee which was not only delicious, but entertaining to watch the process of making it. I filmed it so even though you won't be able to taste it by watching this video, you can get a feel for the vibes and maybe go there yourself one day.
