CONDITIONALS QUIZ # 2 | The Four Conditionals | Ouiz | Zero, First, Second, and Third Conditionals
In this video, you will practice identifying zero conditionals, first conditionals, second conditionals, and third conditionals. Let's have some fun!
We use the ZERO CONDITIONAL when we want to talk about facts or things that are generally true. Scientific facts are often covered by the zero conditional: "When you heat ice, it melts."
The zero conditional uses if or when and must be followed by the simple present or imperative.
The FIRST CONDITIONAL is used to talk about things which might happen in the future. Of course, we can't know what will happen in the future, but this describes possible things, which could easily come true.
The first conditional has two clauses: the if clause and the main clause. The if clause has the present simple after 'if’, and the future simple is in the main clause.
The SECOND CONDITIONAL has two uses:
First, we can use it to talk about things in the future that are probably not going to be true. For example, a dream.
Second, we can use it to talk about something in the present which is impossible, because it's not true.
The second conditional uses the past simple after if, then 'would' and the infinitive.
The THIRD CONDITIONAL talks about the past. It's used to describe a situation that didn't happen, and to imagine the result of this situation.
