The Vltava River is the longest river in the Czech Republic, it runs straight through Prague and separates the city into two sections. There is a total of 18 bridges that cross the river in Prague with the Charles Bridge being the most famous and oldest (was built in 1402).
Both the Czech name Vltava and the German name Moldau are believed to originate from the old Germanic words wilt ahwa (wild water). The river runs for 267 miles!
