Double Bass Etude: Rabbath 17. 21 Day Etude Practice Challenge.
I have an important audition coming in the next few months, but I don't yet have the Repertoire list. I'm anticipating it coming out Feb. 1. Until then to make sure that I'm keeping my chops up I set myself the challenge of recording and uploading an etude every single day until Feb. 1 with a short explanation at the end of each. Many of these etudes I have played before, but it's been awhile, but there will also be a few new ones.
Another Rabbath book 2 etude, overall this book is excellent. This one can be challenging with the amount of shifts that happen throughout. There is a tempo marking of qauarter = 112, I would reccomend slightly slower than that. I would aim for clarity and solid intonation over speed. Also when you can avoid it, don't put big shifts in the middle of the slurs, instead opt for pivots and crossing the strings to keep it as smooth as possible. No shame in use of harmoincs and open strings on this one! Thanks for watching!
